Bai Lu Admits She’s Exhausted, Wants to Take a Short Break from Xianxia Dramas

WartaGate.com – Popular Chinese actress Bai Lu has long been known as one of the faces most closely associated with xianxia dramas.

The fantasy genre, distinctive to Chinese television, highlights spiritual journeys toward immortality, complete with tales of gods, demons, magical powers, and love filled with sacrifice.

Bai Lu’s major success through the drama Till the End of the Moon (2023) further cemented her position as a leading actress in the genre.

However, behind that popularity, Bai Lu has revealed her desire to take a short break from xianxia dramas.

In her latest interview quoted by Cinema Online, Bai Lu candidly admitted that she has begun to feel pressured and exhausted after repeatedly starring in fantasy dramas with similar story patterns.

She confessed that she worries audiences may grow bored of her performances, which she feels can appear too similar from one project to another.

Even so, Bai Lu emphasized that her wish to take a break does not mean she looks down on the xianxia genre. On the contrary, she deeply appreciates the hard work of the production teams involved in each large-scale fantasy project.

According to her, the xianxia industry has provided many valuable opportunities throughout her career.

At this point, however, Bai Lu feels that the most important thing she needs is time to rest and restore her energy.

Bai Lu first began to capture public attention after starring in The Legends in 2019.

Her popularity continued to soar until she delivered a standout performance in Till the End of the Moon, where she portrayed three different characters in a tragic love story involving the Demon God, an acting challenge that earned widespread praise.

In 2025, Bai Lu also starred in Moonlight Mystique alongside Ao Ruipeng and Dai Lu Wa. Before fully stepping away from the xianxia genre, she is still scheduled to appear in an upcoming drama titled Unveil: Jadewind.

Bai Lu’s decision to take a break has received mixed reactions from fans. Many have expressed their support, hoping the actress will return in the future with renewed energy and more diverse roles.
