The film's plot revolves around a building placed under lockdown due to an unknown virus outbreak, where those infected begin evolving into unpredictable forms, threatening the remaining survivors.
This project marks Jun Ji-hyun's return to the big screen after a decade since her last film "Assassination" in 2015. Meanwhile, Ji Chang-wook will collaborate with Yeon Sang-ho for the first time in his career. Go Soo is also set to make a special appearance, adding even more weight to the impressive lineup.
Director Yeon Sang-ho expressed his excitement about the project, saying, "I have begun a long journey with great actors and staff, aiming to present high-quality entertainment that audiences can enjoy in theaters.
" He added, "I am very excited and standing at the starting line with great anticipation. Please show a lot of interest and look forward to it."
Described by SHOWBOX as "the pinnacle of Yeon Sang-ho's world, spanning from 'Train to Busan' to 'Peninsula'," the film is currently in production, with further plot details being kept tightly under wraps.
"Colony" is expected to deliver another intense and thought-provoking exploration of the zombie apocalypse genre, solidifying Yeon Sang-ho's signature style of blending thrilling narratives with social commentary.
