The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron has presented evidence supporting claims that she was romantically involved with actor Kim Soo-hyun while she was still underage.

During a press conference held at the Space Share Center in Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday, Bu Ji-seok from the law firm Buyou, representing Kim Sae-ron’s family, shared a statement from the bereaved family

According to Bu, the family decided to disclose this evidence publicly to put an end to ongoing speculations, which have caused them emotional distress. 

"Recently, Kim Sae-ron's personal life has been exposed recklessly on a daily basis, leading to speculation and criticism that have deeply affected the grieving family," 

Bu stated during the press conference, as reported by The Korea Times on March 27.

 "This has resulted in severe anxiety and mental distress for them. By releasing this evidence, they hope to put an end to the controversy and prevent further meaningless disputes regarding the facts after this press conference," he added.

Bu revealed KakaoTalk messages allegedly exchanged between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun in June 2016, when Kim Sae-ron was 16 years old.

 The messages reportedly contained phrases like "I miss you," "I want to hug you," along with heart emojis.

Kim Soo-hyun and his representatives acknowledged the relationship but firmly denied the accusations that they started dating while Kim Sae-ron was still a minor. His team maintained that their relationship only began after she had reached adulthood.

Additionally, a letter that Kim Sae-ron wrote but never sent to Kim Soo-hyun last year was revealed during the press conference, along with photos of her self-harm.

 In her handwritten letter, she apologized for posting a picture of her and Kim Soo-hyun hugging on social media. 

She explained that she had received a warning from Gold Medalist, the former agency of both actors, and that she was unable to reach anyone at the company.

"I couldn't contact anyone at the agency and was afraid of legal action. I uploaded the photo in hopes of getting in touch with the company. I apologize for causing trouble. I was scared and uncomfortable with the people at Gold Medalist," she wrote.

Kim Sae-ron also reflected on her relationship with Kim Soo-hyun, writing, "We were together for five to six years. Let’s get along. Can we at least support each other?"

The controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun intensified after YouTube channel Hoverlab made claims about his alleged relationship with Kim Sae-ron while she was still underage. Since March 10, both sides have engaged in conflicting statements and counterclaims, fueling further public debate.

As the dispute continues, the case has drawn significant attention, leaving fans and the entertainment industry divided on the matter.
