Wartagate.com - After a long hiatus from the South Korean entertainment scene, actor Ji Soo has announced his return to his home country.
The 32-year-old star, who gained popularity through the drama My First First Love, had been largely absent from the public eye following a controversy that severely impacted his acting career.
Now, after spending the past year rebuilding his life and profession in the Philippines, Ji Soo is back on Korean soil—bringing hope to fans who have waited for his comeback.
Back in 2021, Ji Soo faced serious allegations stemming from his past. Multiple individuals came forward accusing the actor of school bullying, physical violence, intimidation, and even sexual misconduct during his middle school years.
The controversy quickly spiraled into a national scandal, forcing Ji Soo to step down from his leading role in the K-drama River Where the Moon Rises.
His management agency at the time, KeyEast Entertainment, terminated their contract with him, and his role in the drama was replaced by actor Na In Woo.
In the wake of the scandal, Ji Soo chose to enlist in South Korea’s mandatory military service.
Upon his discharge in 2023, he gave an exclusive interview with Sports Chosun where he revealed that the initial accuser had forgiven him, offering a glimpse of hope for personal reconciliation.
Despite this, the Korean public remained largely critical, and Ji Soo struggled to reclaim his place in the entertainment industry.
Seeking a fresh start, Ji Soo turned to the Philippines, where he was warmly welcomed.
In July 2024, he made his acting debut in the Filipino action series Black Rider, taking on the role of Adrian Park—a Korean-Filipino character who trains the female lead, portrayed by Yassi Pressman, in firearm handling and combat techniques.
Impressively, Ji Soo delivered lines in both Tagalog and English, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to the role.
His involvement in the Philippine entertainment industry didn’t end there. Ji Soo became a talent under GLXY Talent Management and made a public appearance at the GMA Gala 2024, a prestigious fundraising event hosted by GMA Network.
His presence alongside top Filipino artists signaled his successful integration into the local showbiz community.
On Tuesday, April 23, 2025, Ji Soo officially marked his return to South Korea through a series of posts on Instagram.
He shared tranquil nighttime photos of himself walking with his dog, Gongjoo, along the iconic Han River.
The scenic images quickly garnered attention, as fans flooded his comment section with words of support and excitement.
Many followers expressed joy over his return and voiced their hopes for Ji Soo to make an acting comeback in Korean dramas.
While Ji Soo has yet to confirm any upcoming projects in South Korea, the warm reception from fans suggests that the door may be open for a second chance.
For now, Ji Soo’s return signifies a new chapter—one marked by resilience, reflection, and the potential for redemption.
Whether he continues to act in Korea or balances an international career, his journey stands as a powerful example of starting over, even after hitting rock bottom.
