WartaGate.com – Good news comes for Dragon Ball fans around the world.
The legendary franchise created by the late Akira Toriyama has officially announced a brand-new anime remake project titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
The announcement was made during Genkidamtasuri, a Dragon Ball celebration festival held last weekend. The moment drew major attention as it involved several key figures behind the success of the series.
Taking the stage at Genkidamtasuri, the remake project was introduced directly by producer Ikio Ayuko. He was accompanied by Masako Nozawa, the Japanese voice actress of Son Goku, as well as Koichi Yamadera, the seiyuu who voices Beerus in Dragon Ball Super.
The presence of these influential figures further underscored the seriousness of the remake project.
Unlike typical remakes, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is described as a reinterpretation inspired by the popular Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods arc. The original story will be reimagined with a more modern visual approach and an updated narrative flow.
Beerus himself is the God of Destruction from Universe 7, a pivotal character who expanded the Dragon Ball universe into the realm of gods. Alongside his angel attendant, Whis, Beerus becomes intrigued by Earth after hearing the legend of the Super Saiyan God.
Interestingly, this remake version will be set 13 years after the previous events. This creative choice is expected to offer a fresh perspective and a renewed viewing experience, appealing to both longtime fans and new audiences alike.
Ikio Ayuko emphasized that the project is being completely rebuilt from a technical animation standpoint. The animation team has been given full creative freedom to refine and elevate the visuals.
Beyond visual improvements, the production team is also committed to staying closer to Akira Toriyama’s original story drafts. During a panel discussion, Ayuko stated that the remake aims to deliver a more authentic narrative tone while also providing creative space for a new generation of animators.
According to the information shared, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is scheduled to premiere in late 2026.
As a reminder, Dragon Ball Super is a direct continuation of the main Dragon Ball Z storyline. The series first aired in 2015 and concluded in 2018 with a total of 131 episodes. The introduction of god-level powers, inter-universe battles, and new characters successfully reignited enthusiasm among longtime fans while attracting a new generation of viewers.
With the announcement of this remake project, Dragon Ball once again proves its enduring status as one of the most influential anime franchises of all time.
