Barbie Hsu’s Family Denies Rumors of Inheritance Conflict with DJ Koo, Affirms Their Relationship Remains Harmonious

WartaGate.com – Negative rumors have resurfaced nearly a year after the passing of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu.
Several reports claimed there was a dispute between the late star’s family and her husband, South Korean singer DJ Koo, also known as Koo Jun Yup, regarding inheritance matters.
According to a report by The Korea Times, Taiwanese media alleged that DJ Koo was considering legal action against Barbie Hsu’s mother over the division of the inheritance.
Other rumors suggested there was tension surrounding the unveiling of a memorial statue for the star of the series Meteor Garden, which coincided with the first anniversary of her death.
However, the family strongly denied the rumors. Barbie Hsu’s mother emphasized that her relationship with DJ Koo remains harmonious.
She described her son-in-law as an important part of the family and rejected the idea of settling issues through legal action, saying it would only waste time and money.
The late actress’s younger sister, Dee Hsu, also spoke out. She condemned those spreading the rumors and said the claims were driven by malicious intent. Dee praised DJ Koo for bringing sincere love and happiness to her sister.
She stressed that the family would protect him and expressed hope that speculation about family conflict would soon end. Messages of public support have since appeared across various social media platforms.
Under Taiwanese inheritance law, Barbie Hsu’s estate is reportedly divided into three parts: one-third for DJ Koo and the remaining portion for her two children from her previous marriage to businessman Wang Xiaofei.
Even so, DJ Koo had previously stated that he was willing to give up his share for the sake of the children and the family.
In a public statement, DJ Koo admitted he was still overwhelmed by grief following his wife’s passing. He stressed that the inheritance represented Barbie Hsu’s lifelong efforts to protect her family. For that reason, he intended to hand over authority regarding his share to his mother-in-law.
Barbie Hsu and DJ Koo’s love story spans many years. The two dated in the late 1990s before separating. After Barbie Hsu divorced Wang Xiaofei in 2021, they reconnected and eventually married. The couple built a life together in Taiwan until Barbie Hsu passed away in February 2025 due to acute pneumonia while on vacation in Japan.
The wave of rumors following the actress’s death briefly drew public attention. Still, the family’s firm statements indicate that their bond remains strong. They now hope the public will respect their privacy and remember Barbie Hsu through her work and the cherished memories she left behind.
