WartaGate.com – The latest Korean drama starring Jisoo from BLACKPINK has officially premiered. The series titled Boyfriend On Demand has been available to watch on Netflix since March 6, 2026.
This romantic comedy drama showcases a new side of Jisoo as the lead actress, starring alongside popular actor Seo In Guk. The project is directed by Kim Jung Sik, who previously worked on dramas such as Work Later, Drink Now and Not Others.
With its unique storyline and an attractive lineup of cast members, Boyfriend On Demand quickly caught the attention of Korean drama fans even before its release.
In the drama, Jisoo plays a character named Mi Rae, a woman who has been hurt by her real-life romantic experiences. To cope with her feelings, she decides to try a unique subscription-based virtual dating service called “Boyfriend on Demand.”
Through this service, Mi Rae experiences various dating scenarios with virtual partners. These dates take place in different timelines, professions, and settings designed to feel like real life.
Meanwhile, Seo In Guk plays Kyeong Nam, Mi Rae’s coworker who gradually disrupts and changes her daily routine. Their relationship, which initially seems ordinary, slowly develops into something more meaningful.
The evolving dynamic between Mi Rae and Kyeong Nam becomes one of the main attractions of the drama.
In addition to the two main leads, the drama also features several well-known actors making special appearances. They play the role of “virtual boyfriends” whom Mi Rae meets in various simulated dating experiences.
Some of the actors appearing in these roles include Lee Soo Hyuk, Seo Kang Joon, Kim Young Dae, and Lee Jae Wook.
According to director Kim Jung Sik, these actors were included to showcase the different sides of Mi Rae’s character through a variety of situations.
He explained that each special appearance was carefully chosen based on the unique charm and strengths of the actors, allowing them to portray roles that best fit the virtual world featured in the story.
Director Kim Jung Sik also revealed that the concept of a virtual boyfriend service in the drama does not feel too far from reality.
He believes that with the rapid development of technology today, such an idea could actually become possible in the near future. For that reason, the drama also offers a glimpse into what romantic relationships might look like in a more technologically advanced era.
This concept is also what attracted Jisoo to join the project. She admitted that when she first read the script, the idea of a virtual subscription-based dating service felt surprisingly realistic.
For Jisoo, portraying Mi Rae was not only about delivering emotional performance but also about facing several challenges during the production process.
Since Mi Rae experiences many dating scenarios in the virtual world, Jisoo had to appear in various styles and themes. As a result, she had to change costumes frequently throughout the filming.
She revealed that during the production, she wore around 250 different outfits.
According to Jisoo, this became both a challenging and exciting experience. Each outfit was tailored to match different dating themes and settings, making the story feel more dynamic.
She also mentioned that the wide variety of looks and dating concepts would likely become one of the drama’s attractions for viewers.
Boyfriend On Demand attempts to present a romantic story that feels different from most Korean dramas.
Besides highlighting the love story between the two main characters, the drama also incorporates elements of modern technology into human relationships.
The combination of romance, light comedy, and a virtual world concept makes the series feel fresh.
With its popular cast and distinctive storyline, Boyfriend On Demand is predicted to become one of the most talked-about Korean dramas of 2026.
