WartaGate.com - South Korean rapper and producer MC Mong is currently under the spotlight after his statements during a TikTok live broadcast sparked controversy among K-Pop fans.

Baekhyun’s name was also dragged into the issue after MC Mong mentioned allegations of illegal gambling involving people within the agency.

During the live broadcast on Monday (May 18), MC Mong claimed that Cha Jun Young, the uncle of One Hundred agency CEO Cha Ga Young, had allegedly encouraged Baekhyun to gamble.

He even mentioned a supposed trip to Las Vegas that was said to be connected to the activity.

Not only that, MC Mong also discussed the production budget for Baekhyun’s solo albums. He revealed that one of Baekhyun’s solo albums reportedly cost around 10 billion won, or approximately Rp117 billion, to produce.

Meanwhile, the production cost for the second album was estimated at 5 billion won, or around Rp58 billion.

The statements immediately triggered strong reactions from EXO fans, especially Baekhyun’s supporters. Many believed MC Mong had gone too far by discussing the idol’s personal and business matters without presenting clear evidence regarding the gambling allegations.

Criticism toward MC Mong quickly flooded social media. Several fans urged the rapper to stop dragging Baekhyun’s name into a controversy whose truth has yet to be proven.

A day after the live broadcast, on Tuesday (May 19), MC Mong appeared again through another livestream and publicly apologized to Baekhyun.

Even though he has apologized, the controversy remains a hot topic among K-Pop fans, especially because the issue is considered sensitive and could potentially damage the reputation of the artists involved.
