Blue Origin’s Milestone: All-Female Crew Led by Katy Perry Embarks on Space Journey

This mission is particularly historic, as it features an all-female crew the first of its kind since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova’s iconic solo orbit of Earth in 1963.

Led by pop superstar Katy Perry, the crew took part in what Blue Origin describes as a transformative journey that "will empower them to tell their own stories and leave a lasting impact to inspire future generations." 

The company, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, has been developing its suborbital space tourism program since 2021, with this mission standing out not only for its crew composition but also for its symbolic importance in the evolution of gender representation in space travel.

The spaceflight, estimated to cost around $150,000 per seat, was more than just a thrill ride.
