Kim Soo Hyun Files Lawsuit Over Allegations Involving Kim Sae Ron

Wartagate.com - South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has officially filed a lawsuit worth 12 billion won (approximately 135 billion rupiah) against the family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron and the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (HoverLab).
The lawsuit was submitted to the Seoul District Court in response to allegations that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was still a minor.
During a press conference held at the Stanford Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 4:30 PM local time, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal representative, Kim Jong Bok from LKB & Partners, confirmed that the lawsuit includes both criminal and civil claims.
The purpose is to clarify the facts surrounding the accusations that have damaged the actor’s reputation.
"In response to these claims, we have filed a lawsuit against the bereaved family members, an unidentified individual who calls themselves ‘Aunt,’ as well as the managers of 'Garosero' for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, among other charges," stated Kim Jong Bok, as reported by Sports Chosun.
Kim Soo Hyun personally addressed the allegations for the first time during the same press conference.
Visibly emotional, he firmly denied any claims that he had been romantically involved with Kim Sae Ron when she was 15.
"I cannot admit to something that is not true just because I am being threatened," he said, as quoted from MBC News' live broadcast. "I did not date the late Kim Sae Ron when she was underage."
The My Love from the Star (2013) actor clarified that their relationship lasted for one year, from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after Kim Sae Ron had already reached adulthood.
He also expressed his regret for taking so long to address the issue publicly. "I see myself as a coward. I was always afraid of losing something, afraid of getting hurt. I kept running away and denying everything. It took me a long time to finally stand here," he said, tears streaming down his face.
The controversy has had a severe impact on Kim Soo Hyun’s career. His fan meeting event in Taiwan has been canceled, and the Disney+ original drama Knock Off, in which he was set to star, has been postponed indefinitely.
The actor has also suffered financial losses in the advertising industry, as several brands have chosen to cut ties with him.
Meanwhile, Garosero Research Institute continues to release more alleged evidence, including photos, videos, and personal letters said to be from Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron.
The late actress’s family has repeatedly demanded an apology from Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, GOLDMEDALIST, through Garosero. They have also called for clarification from YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, who has been accused of spreading additional rumors about the case.
Adding to the controversy, the family of the late Sulli has also spoken out. Sulli’s brother, Choi Geon Hee, has questioned the explicit bedroom scene in the 2017 film Real, in which Kim Soo Hyun starred alongside Sulli. Choi Geon Hee claims that Sulli was coerced into performing the scene despite the presence of a body double on set.
