Wartagate.com - Hollywood is abuzz with news that Robert Pattinson may be stepping into the villainous spotlight in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated film, Dune: Messiah.

According to sources reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, April 8, Pattinson is said to be in talks to portray Scytale, the primary antagonist in Frank Herbert’s sequel novel.

Although no official offer has reportedly been extended to Pattinson yet, the actor's packed schedule—featuring roles in The Batman sequel and The Odyssey—has not deterred the ongoing speculation.

If confirmed, the role would mark another major collaboration between Pattinson and Warner Bros., following his recent work on Mickey 17.

Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind the current Dune film franchise, is known for attracting top-tier talent.

His past adaptations, Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), boasted an all-star ensemble including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin, among others.

The first film grossed $410 million globally despite releasing during the pandemic, while the sequel soared to $714.6 million worldwide.

Set 12 years after the events of Dune, Dune: Messiah follows Paul Atreides as Emperor of the Known Universe. He is married to Princess Irulan but continues his relationship with his concubine, Chani.

The novel explores the political and spiritual consequences of Paul’s rise to power, setting the stage for darker, more introspective themes.

Production for Dune: Messiah is expected to begin in the summer of 2025, with a theatrical release date set for December 18, 2026, under Warner Bros.

Villeneuve has hinted that this installment may be his final journey into the Dune universe before moving on to other projects.

Neither Legendary Pictures nor Warner Bros. has released a statement confirming Pattinson’s involvement. The actor is currently represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Sloane Offer.

As fans eagerly await official casting announcements, the idea of Pattinson joining the Dune saga has already generated considerable excitement among sci-fi and film enthusiasts alike.
