Wartagate.com - Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up about the significant impact motherhood has had on her acting career.
Following the screening of her film "Die My Love" at the Cannes Film Festival, Lawrence shared her thoughts on how having children has changed her approach to acting.
Lawrence, who married art dealer Cooke Maroney in 2019, has two children with her husband.
Her first child, Cy Maroney, was born in February 2022, and she recently welcomed her second child, whom she was pregnant with during the filming of "Die My Love."
In a candid conversation, Lawrence said, "I'm really recommending having kids if you want to be an actor... They change everything. It changes your whole life. It's brutal and amazing." She added that her children have taken over every decision, from whether she works to where she works, and that she finds herself constantly thinking about them.
Lawrence believes that her experience as a mother has helped her tap into various emotions in her acting roles. "The job I do is very emotional, and the roles have opened up a new horizon. It's like being forged or something, super sensitive," she said.
In "Die My Love," Lawrence plays the role of Grace, a woman struggling with mental health issues after marriage. The film is an adaptation of the novel by Argentine writer Ariana Harwicz.
Lawrence also shared her personal experience with postpartum feelings after giving birth to her first child, revealing that it was far more challenging than she expected.
She spoke about feeling isolated, anxious, and depressed, despite having a supportive partner. "The reality is the anxiety and extreme depression just exacerbate that feeling of isolation, wherever a mother is, you feel like an alien," she said.
